Second Meal — Privacy Policy

Provided by James Peterson Films, LLC (“we,” “us,” the “Developer”). Last updated: September 7, 2026.

The short version

Second Meal keeps your financial records on your device. Your receipts, invoices, statements, photographs, voice memos, notes, vendors, amounts and spending totals stay on your phone. We run no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking SDKs, and we never sell your data. Information leaves your device only when you send it — by exporting or sharing it, by connecting an account you control (such as your own cloud storage, email or accounting software), or by switching on an optional feature that is off unless you turn it on.

This app handles sensitive financial information. Receipts reveal where you were, what you bought, who you were with and which card you used. Treat an export the way you would treat a bank statement.

Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect, receive or store your receipts, images, recordings, notes or spending on our systems. There are no user accounts and no login to use the app. We use no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics and no tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or rent any information about you to anyone.

What the app stores on your device

Camera, photo library and microphone

The camera is used to photograph documents and equipment. The photo library is used only for images you choose to import. The microphone is used only while you are recording a voice memo, and only when you start one. None of these are used in the background, and none of that content is sent to us.

How documents and voice memos are processed

Reading a document and transcribing a voice memo happen on your device. If a future version offers processing that is not on the device, it will be clearly identified in the app, will be off unless you turn it on, and this policy will be updated before that feature ships.

Optional connections you control

You may choose to connect services that belong to you — for example cloud storage for your receipt files, an email account so purchase confirmations can be brought in, or accounting software so expenses can be recorded there. If you connect one:

Other people's information

When you record who was at a meal, you are storing another person's name, and sometimes their employer or role. That stays on your device under the same protections as the rest of your records. If you export or share a record, you are sharing their information too. Please only include what you need for your own tax records.

Confidentiality on productions

Many productions ask you to sign a confidentiality agreement. Receipts and equipment lists can reveal locations, dates and vendors connected to an unreleased project. Before you export records, connect an outside service, or share anything with a bookkeeper, check what you signed.

How your information is shared

We do not share your information, because we do not have it. You share it when you choose to: exporting a report, sending records to your accountant, or connecting a service under your own account.

Data retention and deletion

Your records stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting the app removes the data it holds on the device. If your device backs up to iCloud or a computer, your app data may be included in that backup under Apple's terms and your own settings. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf; if you have connected an outside service, delete what you sent there with that provider.

Security

Your records are protected by your device's own protections, including the passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and file encryption. Use a passcode and keep your device updated. No method of storage is perfectly secure, and an exported file is only as protected as the place you send it.

Children

Second Meal is a business tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal information a company holds about you. We do not hold your information, so these rights are exercised on your own device: everything is visible in the app, editable, exportable and deletable by you. Contact us with any question about this policy.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update it and change the date above before that version ships. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.

This policy is not advice

This policy explains how the App handles information. It is not legal or tax advice, and it does not change your own obligations — including any confidentiality agreement you have signed, and your duty to keep and produce records a tax authority may require. See the Terms of Use, which include important disclaimers and limitations of liability.
